Cadillac’s CTS-V Coupe racer
Cadillac has chosen the Detroit Motor Show to reveal its striking CTS-V Coupe racing car. Featuring a huge front splitter, low-slung body, eye-catching livery and picnic-table-sized rear wing, the CTS-V Coupe has been built to race in the 2011 America World Challenge GT series.
While no technical specifications for the racing Cadillac have been revealed, the road-going production car uses a supercharged 556bhp 6.2-litre V8 engine, which is enough for a claimed sub-4.0sec sprint to 60mph and a 191mph top speed.
Buick reveals Cruze-based saloon
US firm downsizes by introducing Cruze-sized saloon to US market
The Buick Verano will be one of many stars shining at the Detroit Motor Show. The saloon is based on the same GM Delta II platform used by the Chevrolet Cruze, and proves that the US market is embracing the trend for downsizing.
The four-door Verano is front-wheel drive only, and will arrive in the US late in 2011 with a 175bhp 2.5-litre direct injection petrol engine connected to a six-speed auto gearbox. In 2012, it’ll be joined by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol too.

BMW's new 6-Series cabrio uncovered
Convertible 6-Series to launch new BMW line-up when it goes on sale in spring.
Meet the soft-top with six appeal. Lower, wider and sitting on a wheelbase that’s 74mm longer, BMW's 2+2 6-Series Convertible has broken cover at the Detroit show! Revealed by six-time American Olympic swimming medalist Natalie Coughlin, the newcomer offers more headroom and rear legroom for occupants, as well as lightweight new seats.
From its thrusting nose to the arrow-straight waistline, the drop-top stays true to the coupé concept displayed at last October’s Paris Motor Show. That version won’t be unveiled until next September, with BMW opting to launch the soft-top 6-Series first to catch the European spring.

BMW 1-Series M Coupé revealed!
This is One hot BMW! Following yesterday’s teaser video, BMW has released official images and details of the hottest 1-Series yet.
An aggressive makeover singles the M Coupé out from other 1-Series models in the range, including large cooling intakes in the front bumper, bulging wheelarches, wing-mirrors lifted from the M3 and four exhaust pipes mounted in pairs either side of a large rear diffuser.
The M Coupé boasts 335bhp from its twin-turbocharged in-line six-cylinder 3.0-litre engine. Torque is impressive too with a maximum of 500Nm available under full throttle. Engineers have opted to keep things simple and all M Coupé’s will be sold with a short-throw six-speed manual gearbox.

Jaguar C-X16 plans to show up at Frankfurt motor show
The Jaguar E-Type celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. And it seems about that long now that its rebirth has been in the making. Or at least the rumourmill.
While the XK might to some seem like its successor, the luxury coupe is considerably heftier and more sedate, much as there is to love about it. A sportier model to slot in below it – in terms of both price and size – has been touted for some time, and now it appears to be nearing its manifestation at long last.
